I never thought I'll ever get asked to cover the Mackay Festival of Art. It is one of the biggest festival in Mackay and you gotta have some influence/lucky to nab a job like this. I'd like to think I have a bit of both? Nevertheless I'm extremely please as I get entry to these events and shows with a VIP pass and shooting from a vantage point that I never could without that pass.
The festival actually ran for about a month but the major events and shows held between 20th - 29th July. And OMG, it's the busiest month of my career and the busiest week of my life. The major events that the organiser wanted me to cover was :
Rouge, Circus for Grown Ups - wow-wee what a show! Rouge indeed!
Wine and Food Festival - I believe the city was empty for the day because the entire population of Mackay found their muse (... and their booze) there
Lunchbox Concert - Mackay have some talented kids
DBCT Illuminate - The art of light. A display of so many beautiful paper art/lanterns. (Brought some memories back to when I was a child celebrating the lantern festival, a chinese cultural fest.)
Ne Roi A Ballet - Featuring a few local talents and an entourage of ballet dancers from all over Australia. Marvelous night!
Comedy Club - An hour of funnies. Thank you Dave Thornton. Bravo!
Jazz Brunch - I couldn't get enough of this Jazz band but it lasted for about 2 hours. Please do comeback again Hook Turn!
I took thousands of photos during this festival. Here are a small number of them so I hope you enjoy browsing through them as much as I enjoy shooting them.
FYI, I was sick for over 2 weeks after the end of July (a extremely busy July with weddings, newborn photos, real estate photos, family portraits = A TONNES OF EDITINGS!) But I'm so grateful for the opportunity and the experience. Thank you Mackay City Council.
